Along with Downtown Visions and The Delaware Department of Agriculture Grant, The Buccini/Pollin group is thrilled to support Wilmington’s first community garden, which is celebrating their first season on Wednesday September 14th at 5:30 PM during a Harvest Party at 407 N Market Street.

The community garden has been a great addition to the Market Street corridor and many ResideBPG residents have enjoyed living the city lifestyle with the benefits of growing their very own fruits and vegetables.

The garden has been a great symbol of downtown vitality and of community partnership. And, the idea caught on quickly. The original 12 planned beds have grown to 16, with a waiting list. This is clearly an idea that has resonated with the downtown community. Downtown Visions Main Street Program applied for a grant to Bank of America in order to complete the garden and prepare it for the next season. Bank of America has been a major funder in the revitalization of Downtown Wilmington and the first to support the Main Street Program. “With over 61 grants awarded to small businesses and 31 building exteriors renovated this project to convert a vacant lot was a perfect fit” says Hageman. “Downtown is no longer just a business district, it is a community”
