Young professionals looking to make a difference in their communities are invited to attend a day-long leadership and development conference in Wilmington designed to help them connect with organizations in need of their service.
The inaugural Millennial Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.
“Our generation has been getting more and more active with community organizations, nonprofits and public service, but we don’t always know how to get our voices heard or which groups are already focused on what we want to get involved with,” said Robert Herrera, co-founder of The Mill coworking space. “The Millennials Summit solves that problem.”
Herrera is one of the lead organizers of the event, along with Charlie Vincent, president of the consulting firm Innovincent. The duo has been working with young professionals from about 60 local organizations to plan the conference.
Other speakers will include Gov. John Carney, Sarah McBride of the Human Rights Campaign, Robert Buccini of the Buccini/Pollin Group and officials from Google, Microsoft, University of Delaware and Christiana Care Health System.
