December 5th- 16th through The Buccini/Pollin Group’s Season of Giving associates from our Pennsylvania properties collected non-perishable food items for the Blessings in a Backpack Program at the Chester Community Charter School in Chester, PA. The students, or scholars as they are called, of Chester Community Charter School have a rigorous STEM focused program. Over 60% of their graduation 8th graders have scholarships to attend private schools including but not limited to St. Andrews Boarding School, Salesianum, Archmere and Episcopal Academy.
All of the students attending Chester Community Charter School are on the Free and Reduced Meal Program and the majority of their families struggle with providing meals for their families. The Blessings in a Backpack program sends children home with food in their backpacks each weekend as a means of outreach to help their families and ensure their students don’t a miss a meal over the weekend.
Blessings in a Backpack has helped over 88,000 children not go hungry to date at over 1,000 schools! To donate to this wonderful cause, click here.
