BPG Delivers 243 Luxury Apartments to Downtown Wilmington, Marking Record Year for Residential Development

WILMINGTON, DE — September 23, 2025 — Buccini Pollin Group, Inc. (BPG) today celebrated the grand opening of The Press, a 243-unit luxury apartment community at 801 N Orange Street in downtown Wilmington, DE. The completion of The Press caps an unprecedented period of residential growth for BPG, which has delivered, financed, and broken ground on multiple projects totaling over 1,000 new apartment units across the region during the past year.

The ribbon cutting ceremony, featuring remarks from Wilmington Mayor John Carney and BPG Founder Rob Buccini, marks the completion of BPG’s latest residential development and underscores the company’s record-breaking year in multifamily housing delivery.

The Press represents a $90 million investment in Wilmington’s continued revitalization, bringing modern luxury living to one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods. Designed by Perkins Eastman, the 14-story glass and metal clad residential tower offers white glove amenities, including an indoor lounge and dining space, a 4th floor roof deck with views of downtown Wilmington, a private exterior amenities space featuring a pool, dog run, grill areas and social spaces, and an intimate, beautifully landscaped pocket park that is accessible to the public.

The Press offers studio, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments and duplexes with high-end finishes including quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, in-unit washers and dryers, and expansive windows providing abundant natural light.  Aptly named, The Press pays tribute to the site’s history as the former headquarters for The News Journal.

“The Press exemplifies our commitment to creating exceptional residential experiences in the heart of Wilmington,” said Rob Buccini, founder, Buccini Pollin Group. “This project represents more than just adding housing inventory—it’s about creating vibrant communities where residents can live, work, and thrive in downtown’s most connected locations.”

Record-Breaking Residential Pipeline in 2025

The Press is the most recent addition to BPG’s growing portfolio of high-quality residential projects this year. Other recent projects include:

The Standard at Market West – BPG successfully closed on $110 million in recapitalization financing for Phase III, adding 97 luxury apartments to complete the final phase of this 363-unit adaptive reuse project. The Standard continues to contribute to the economic development of the area, generating a total of 350 construction jobs across all phases of the project.

With Phase I at 100% occupancy and Phase II currently leasing, The Standard continues to demonstrate strong market demand for luxury downtown living.

University of Delaware STAR Campus Apartments – In May, BPG broke ground on a $75 million, 229-unit luxury apartment community at the University’s innovation hub. The project features two, seven-story buildings connected by a glass skybridge and represents the first multifamily development on the campus.

Justison Landing Residences – BPG broke ground on this $56.5 million, 164-unit waterfront community in partnership with the Riverfront Development Corporation. The development continues BPG’s nearly two-decade transformation of Wilmington’s Riverfront district.

Humble Park Place – BPG celebrated the January ribbon cutting of this 61-unit community on Lower Market Street, completing another key piece of the downtown revitalization puzzle with an estimated 250 construction jobs created during development.

In total, BPG has secured nearly $200 million in multifamily financing this year alone, demonstrating strong lender confidence in the company’s development strategy and market positioning.

“Our momentum this year reflects not just market opportunity, but our deep understanding of what today’s residents need,” added Buccini. “From adaptive reuse projects like The Standard to ground-up developments like The Press and our STAR Campus community, we’re creating diverse housing options that serve Delaware’s growing workforce and attract new residents to our region.”

BPG’s residential portfolio now encompasses over 3,200 developed units and 7,234 units under management. In addition to a strong year of multifamily financing and development, BPG’s residential property management affiliate, ResideBPG, has nearly doubled its management portfolio. Recent property management transactions include a partnership with Corten Real Estate to manage 1213 Walnut Street, a 322 unit multifamily property in the heart of Center City, Philadelphia, along with a strategic partnership with Apennine Development Co., LLC and J.A. Moore & Sons, Inc. to manage and lease up a portfolio of six multifamily properties totaling over 2,500 units in key areas of Kent and Sussex County, DE.

“Our continued growth in third-party management is a strong endorsement of the quality and expertise ResideBPG brings to the market,” said Mike Mazzigatti, senior vice president of residential operations. “Owners trust us not only because of our proven track record, but because we offer the perspective of a developer, owner, and operator, supported by a deeply experienced team of professionals.”
