Job Purpose

The position of Junior Development Accountant is responsible for processing the day-to-day accounting tasks for the projects that are currently or soon to be under construction throughout the BPG portfolio. In this role, you will be working on numerous projects beginning in the design and/or demo phases up until the property is placed in service. You will be communicating with external lenders and auditors as required by the development loans. The position has frequent exposure to upper management and ownership within the company.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process invoices into MRI
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Post journal entries to the general ledger
  • Complete monthly check runs
  • Prepare monthly lender draws for funding requests
  • Cash management and cash flow projections as needed
  • Perform variance analysis and timely reconciliation of general ledger and balance sheet accounts
  • Monitor the debt service
  • Support Controller on external cost certifications for grants and tax credits
  • Assist external CPA with annual entity tax returns
  • Communicate with lenders and varying internal departments as needed
  • Upload contracts and change orders into MRI
  • Special projects and other duties as needed

 

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced experience in Excel recommended
  • Enhanced communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills, with the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with associates at all levels, vendors, clients, and any other outside party
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with established ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and/or demands
  • Must exercise time management skills and be detail-oriented

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting recommended

 

Experience

  • 2+ years of education in accounting
  • 1+ years of employment or internships in an accounting field

 

Physical Requirements

  • Requires prolonged sitting
  • Requires frequent operation of office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, telephone, etc.
  • Occasional stretching and/or bending to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
