Job Purpose

The Director of Human Resources is a hands-on and strategic leader who is responsible for directing and executing all human resources related functions for the company.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer (as needed) payroll, benefits, compliance, compensation, analytics, and employee relations including, but not limited to:
    • Review, provide guidance/support, and approve payroll for all EINs
    • Maintain relationship with benefit brokers and stay well-informed of employee issues as it relates to benefits.
      • Participate in weekly meetings with broker.
      • Assist team with planning and execution of wellness events.
      • Review benefit documentation to ensure accuracy and proper information is shared with employees.
      • Lead open enrollment efforts each year which includes providing data, assist in negotiation of rates, and presentation to employees.
      • Partner with accounting team to ensure accuracy of billing.
    • Responsible for annual workers comp audit, 401k audit, NDT Testing (FSA and 401k), 5500 filing, OSHA reporting, annual ACA reporting, etc.
    • Lead and effectively execute ongoing, quarterly, and year-end compensation efforts.
    • Provide monthly reporting to departments on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis.
      • Monthly payroll and benefits costs by department
      • Responsible for compiling, distributing, and managing HR budget line items (salaries, payroll tax, benefits, workers comp, etc.)
      • Analysis of HR people cost variances for corporate, commercial, residential and food + beverage/entertainment department.
    • Effectively resolve employee issues in accordance with regulatory standards and provide guidance on best practices aligned with relevant laws and policies.
      • Partner with management to thoroughly review, analyze, and provide guidance on employee issues including, but not limited to performance management and corrective action.
      • Support and facilitate the preparation of documents, along with maintaining accurate documentation in employee files.
      • Maintain an “open door policy” for all employees to share their grievances.
      • Partner with executive and c-suite team on complex employee issues.
  • Provide direct support and act as HR Business Partner to food + beverage/entertainment department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Continually assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
  • Create and execute training and development programs
  • Continuous improvement programs, policies, practices, and processes associated with meeting strategic and operational goals of the department and company.
  • Advocate for and support DEI efforts and initiatives.
  • Lead, manage and develop the associates within the HR department.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Must be comfortable with being in-office 5 days a week.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all organization levels and coordinate cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to integrate data from reports and other data sources to make appropriate employment and other decisions.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; emphasis on providing solutions and being proactive.
  • Agility to anticipate changing business needs, and flexibility to effectively coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Broad perspective from working in various industries, functions, or business situations.
  • Knowledge of applicable HR statutes and regulations, such as ADA, COBRA, FMLA, FLSA, HIPAA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ACA, etc.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferable within Human resources or a business-related discipline.

Experience

  • 5 to 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience required.
  • Advance Excel experience preferred.
  • Strong and recent working knowledge of ADP is required.
  • Prior real estate, development, and/or hospitality experience is a plus.
  • HR certification(s) are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires prolonged sitting.
  • Requires frequent operation of office equipment; such as a computer, copy machine, telephone, etc.
  • Occasional stretching and / or bending to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
